The Storyteller
"Desires make salves out of kings and patience makes kings out of slaves.”
— Imam Al-Ghazali
This Storyteller segment draws inspiration from pingshu, the traditional Chinese way of storytelling. Picture ancient caravans of traveling merchants resting on a Kong — a large, heated brick structure that servers as a communal bed — at an inn during a cold winter’s night. A hot meal is served while the travelers enjoy artfully narrated folklore tales, stories and parables. According to Imam Al-Ghazali inspiring storytelling increases self-knowledge, instills a sense of community, and encourages to reflect on our spiritual and worldly duties. Human lives tell the best stories; and this is the place where stories are told and made.
